When Jesus willingly allowed himself to be nailed to the cross and lifted up to suffer an agonizing death those around him thought that the words he had spoken and the mission he had sparked were to no avail and it looked dark for them and their future.
To me, this is the epitome of Christian life. The appearance of failure from the perspective of just this moment.
